Making A Home Your Family Will Love

When it comes to creating a gorgeous interior space, your home will only be as beautiful as your family allows it to be. If your children don't respect the space, your home will quickly fall back into disrepair, which is why I started focusing more and more on home and garden a few years ago. I was committed to creating a great space that was just as clean and gorgeous as it was functional, and I was really surprised to see how much of a difference my efforts made. Within a few short years, my place really seemed a lot more open, airy, and inviting. Check out this blog for great ideas on making a family-oriented home.

Insight For Boosting The Security And Safety Of Your New Home

by Alice Howard

Buying a new home is an exciting time and a new beginning in your life, but you want to make sure your new home is kept safe from burglars and prowlers. Although you are in a new neighborhood, there can still be threats to your home and your family's safety. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take with your new home to boost its security. Here are some tips you can use in and around your newly-purchased home to keep it, you, and your family safe.

Hire a Locksmith

When you buy a home, either newly-built or existing, you don't know who else has keys to the home. With an existing home, you don't know if the previous homeowners still have a key or if they had given an extra key out to any neighbors, friends, or relatives, and you don't want to take the chance of someone having a working key to your home. And with a newly-built home, any contractors that worked on the home may still have a key, or a real estate agent or other home sales professional might still have a key.

You can hire a locksmith to come to your home and re-key or replace all the exterior locks on your home. By rekeying the locks, they leave the locks and knobs intact, but change out the key tumblers inside the lock. But if you want to change out the locks and install a smart home locking system, your locksmith can install locks with an electronic keypad to give you features, such as keyless entry and remote locking and unlocking capabilities.

Install a Security System

An additional way to boost your new home's security is by installing a security system on the home's exterior and interior. A home security system professional can install the system within your home, which you can control from your smart phone. And any video cameras installed on your doorways or inside the home, you can monitor from your smart phone if you are home or away from home. This feature allows you to see who is at your door without having to go to your door and look out the peep hole.

If you can't afford a full security system, you can install dummy cameras on the outside of your home to give the appearance that you home is under video surveillance. This can deter someone from attempting to break into your home or even steal packages from your doorstep, as they will think they are being recorded.
