Making A Home Your Family Will Love

When it comes to creating a gorgeous interior space, your home will only be as beautiful as your family allows it to be. If your children don't respect the space, your home will quickly fall back into disrepair, which is why I started focusing more and more on home and garden a few years ago. I was committed to creating a great space that was just as clean and gorgeous as it was functional, and I was really surprised to see how much of a difference my efforts made. Within a few short years, my place really seemed a lot more open, airy, and inviting. Check out this blog for great ideas on making a family-oriented home.

Several Tips For Caring For Your Mirrors

by Alice Howard

Your mirrors can be essential tools for allowing you to ensure that you always look your best before leaving your house. However, it is a reality that high-quality mirrors can be relatively major investments, and you will need to be mindful of the steps for caring for mirrors in order to keep it free of scratches, cracks and discoloration.

Be Careful With The Type Of Cloth You Use To Clean The Mirror

Cleaning the mirror will be essential for removing dust and dirt. However, individuals will often pay little attention to the type of cloth that they are using to clean the mirror. Unfortunately, using a low-quality cloth can result in the mirror becoming scuffed. IN particular, old cotton rags can be particularly common sources of this problem as mineral deposits and other forms of wear will cause the cotton to become fairly rough. Rather than using cloth, you might find that microfiber is an excellent option as it will be soft enough to avoid scratching the mirror.

Avoid Spraying Cleaning Agents Directly On The Mirror

Applying a cleaning solution to the mirror may seem like it is the natural way to perform this maintenance. However, you should typically avoid spraying cleaning solutions directly onto the mirror. This can make it easier for the cleaning solution to seep around the edges of the mirror. If the cleaning solution gets trapped behind the glass, it can start to degrade the reflective coating. A better alternative will be to apply the cleaning solution to the cleaning cloth and using it to wipe the glass. Once you have wiped the glass with this cloth, you should thoroughly dry it so as to further reduce the chances that some of the cleaning solution gets behind the mirror.

Be Mindful When Moving The Mirror

Eventually, you may find that you are needing to move to a new house. Unfortunately, a move can be extremely risky for a mirror as these objects are very fragile. Protecting the mirror will require you to thorough pad it. When adding a mirror, individuals will frequently make the mistake of using newspaper to protect the mirror, but ink from the newspaper can rub off onto the glass. This can permanently discolor the mirror. When loading the mirror into the moving truck, you should always load it last. This will reduce the risk of it being damaged when you are loading or unloading the truck as the error will be the last thing on the truck and one of the first things to be removed from it.
